: Hello, hope you are doing well today. I was just wondering if there could be a discount for Medical students for COVID tests in our faculty hospital? I just flew back to HK 2 weeks ago so i did one for 1700 czk. I resumed classes last week where couple of students came to class with COVID and spread it to others. Now i would have to do another test to check and that would be a total of 3400 czk along with my previous test. Is it possible to maybe get a discount for us students, if i may politely ask? Thank you so much for your time.
: Hello. The testing works as follows.
- Anyone who was in pandemically high risk contact or who shows symptoms can be prescribed a COVID test that is covered by insurance.
- 1) Thus, if you show symptoms, you email or call your G, describe the symptoms and request her resolution. If your GP concludes that the symptoms correspond to the viral disease COVID, she will send a request for your test to the regional hygiene station. Then you have to scan your insurance card (Czech, European or private insurance with Slavia, Uniqa, etc.) and send it to email@example.com – without this step you will not be accepted for the test despite the request from the doctor. Plus don’t forget to make a reservation as “indikovaný pacient” here << In this case you don’t pay anything and your test is covered by your insurance
- 2) Similarly, if you have been in a pandemically high risk contact, meaning contact with a COVID positive person for more than 15 min, in close proximity without any protection, you are to be contacted by the regional hygiene station with resolution either to quarantine or to go for a test. If the test is ordered by the regional hygiene station it is also covered by your insurance and you don’t have to pay anything.
- If you are in neither of the above-mentioned situations, you fall into a category of self-payer and there can be no discount as the test is requested by you, for your purposes.
What you mention above should either fall in category 2 – high risk contact, or it was not evaluated as a high risk and you do not have to go and pay for another test. Hopefully, this helps to clarify the situation and the options at your disposal and make things easier for you.
Let us add a few more important facts so you and your colleagues have comprehensive info:
You already know GP for international students,
doctor Brynda. Should you need a consultation regarding your symptoms
, he will need you to send him an email containing your full name, date of birth, address in Czech Republic, citizenship, phone number and your symptoms to firstname.lastname@example.org
Then if necessary he will issue a test request for you.
There is also a GP for students residing Na Kotli
, doctor Petra Hošková. Should you need a consultation regarding your symptoms
, she will need you to send her an email containing your full name, date of birth, address in Czech Republic, citizenship, phone number and your symptoms to email@example.com

!! DO NOT CONTACT A GP in case you were in contact with a COVID positive person, this is for the regional hygiene station to resolve.
!! SELF ADMINISTERED QUARANTINE cannot be considered for the purposes of excusing your absences.
If you have not been placed into quarantine by the hygiene station, your doctor will not be able to issue you any confirmation for your teachers.

: I'm from 2nd year general medicine. We have a classmate who resulted positive yesterday. Both groups have been in the same class last week and we are not sure if we are allowed to attend practical classes on Monday morning.
: Such situation is to be consulted with the regional hygiene station. Important thing is whether you have been in a pandemically high risk contact with your colleague: more than 15 min, in close proximity without any protection or living in the same household, etc.
