Research activities

  1. Scanning electron microscopy of biological samples:
    - cardiac valves and vascular grafts  - morphological assessment of aortic and pulmonary valves preserved in a tissue bank, explanted human diseased valve grafts, and  valves from animal experiments
    - teeth and oral tissues, dental implants (in cooperation with  Department of Dentistry)
    - materials implanted into the bones of experimental animals (in cooperation with Department of Orthopedic Surgery)
    - qualitative control  of biodegradable esophageal stents, artificial intraocular lenses, etc.
  2. Experimental intoxications of CNS with cholinesterase inhibitors and quantitative assessing the efficacy of prophylactic antidotal treatment with help of enzyme histochemistry.
  3. Developmental studies of  permanent rib cartilages and significance of calcifications in human rib cartilages.        
  4. Exploration of hepatic blood supply and venous drainage.
