The liver is an important organ of the body, it performs, among other things, a number of functions in intermediary and energy metabolism, it is the main site of biotransformation of xenobiotics and many substances of endogenous origin. The importance of proper assessme mitochondrial function is emphasized by findings that document that impaired hepatic mitoc accompanies most common metabolic, nutritional, and other diseases of civilization. Mitoch can be studied in a variety of models including liver homogenate, mitochondria and hepatoc from the liver under in vivo conditions; isolated hepatocytes, stabilized cell lines or tu can be used in in vitro experiments.
