Faculty of medicine intensifies its cooperation with Trinity College Dublin
Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové, part of Charles University, makes longterm effort to bring excellence to its research activities by deepening contacts with distinguished foreign Universities.
From November, 5 to November 8 faculty´s delegation visited the oldest Irish university, the University of Dublin, Trinity College (TCD), founded in 1592.
TCD has 17 000 students from 122 countries and over 3 500 staff members. One of three Faculties is the Faculty of Health sciences teaching Medicine, Dental Science, Pharmacy nad Pharmacology and Nursing and Midwifery. Trinity´ s research themes include Ageing, Cancer, Neuroscience, Nanoscience and Immunology.
The cooperation between Faculty and Trinity College started in 2015, when the institutions submitted joint project proposal to prestigious European funding scheme Horizont 2020. In 2016, Prof. Yuri Volkov and Prof. Adriele Prina Mello visited Faculty of Medicine to discuss collaboration in the theme of nanoparticle-associated bio-hazards.
In November 2017 Prof. Petera, Vice Dean for international relations, Prof. Fiala, Head of Department of Hygiene and Preventive Medicine, Ing. Macourková, Head of grants and international division, and Mgr. Švadláková from Department of Immunology, visited number of TCD´s Departments and labs. They presented Faculty´s teaching and research activities to Prof. Juliette Hussey, TCD Vice President for Global Relations, Prof. Mary McCarron, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, TCD and Prof. Michel Gill, Head of the School of Medicine. Program included many other meetings in TCD Research institutes and St. Jammes hospital.
The meetings will be summarized in prepared collaboration plan and are expected to result in two joint scientific articles on graphene nanomaterials to be published soon.
