I attended the SURGICON International Congress held in Bucharest, Romania from 28th
October 2021. Over the four-day congress, I got the opportunity to attend live surgeries from various specialties. The retinal live surgery was something I’ve never gotten the opportunity to see. There were several remarkable and eye-opening debates and conferences that were presented by students. I was mostly looking forward to the surgery workshops that were conducted in person where I got to practice and improve my hands- on skills in surgery. I chose the Coronary Bypass, Craniotomy and Flaps and Grafts in Plastic surgery workshops during my time there. In addition, we had a fantastic panel of well- renowned doctors from all over the world presenting their discussions associated with research and their field of clinical practice.
Overall, this experience was definitely worthwhile and I hope to make another trip to Romania for the Congress in the following year. Despite the ongoing COVID situation, the whole event was planned and organized extremely well by the students of the Romanian Surgical Society. I highly recommend it to those interested in pursuing a career in the surgery. Above all, I am extremely grateful to our university and faculty members for giving me this opportunity.
