On Thursday 19 December 2024, we celebrated the reaching of the highest point of the construction of the Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Pharmacy Campus in Hradec Králové of Charles University (MEPHARED 2). The campus has now completed all floors including the roof.

Reaching the highest point of the building is usually accompanied by a traditional ceremony associated with the attachment of a decorated tree, the "glajcha", to the roof. The tradition was also observed in the case of the construction of the UK Campus. As part of this festive event, the guests, accompanied by the builders, toured the rough construction of the campus. They were able to see the planned final appearance of the interiors and compare it with the current state on the visualizations on display. Experienced guides gave them an explanation of the progress of the work.

Construction of the campus, which began in August 2023, is on schedule. Work on the Central Building is even slightly ahead of schedule. A substantial part of the construction work will be completed during 2025, with technology alignment and technical testing taking place in the spring of 2026. At that time, hard work will be done to complete the documentation for the implementation of the approval, which must be achieved according to the grant conditions by the end of June 2026. However, the faculties still have to implement a number of public works contracts for the interior fit-out of the premises before then.

The summer of 2026 will be very hectic. The two faculties will be familiarizing themselves with the new premises, to which they will gradually move equipment and all activities from the existing buildings so that the 2026/2027 academic year will already take place in the new premises.
